The Capital City Century (CCC) is one of the oldest cycling events in central Illinois, attracting hundreds of riders from multiple states. This year's CCC will be held on Sunday, September 7th, 2014 at the Knights of Columbus (K of C), 2200 South Meadowbrook Road, Springfield Illinois. The CCC is a recreational ride (not a race!) attracting riders of all ages and ability levels.
Riders once again have distance options of 10 to 100 miles over flat to slightly rolling terrain. A special double metric (125 mile) Challenge option will also be offered in 2014. The main food stop will be at historic Clayville near Pleasant Plains. The CCC features organized food stops, SAG service, and a post-ride party at the K of C.
A free Springfield area Historic Sites ride will be held on Saturday September 6th, starting 1:00 p.m. at the historic Lincoln Depot where 1861 Presideent-elect Abraham Lincoln delivered his impromptu farewell to the citizens of Springfield.
