The Capital City Century, one of the oldest and most popular cycling events in Illinois, is expanding to a whole weekend of fun!

Join us for a weekend of new cycling routes, fun activities and parties that your whole family and friends can enjoy.

The signature event is the 46th Annual Classic CCC ride on Sunday, September 9th. This Classic ride draws 700+ riders annually. It features distance options of 24 to 125 miles over flat to rolling terrain, well-marked roads, organized food stops, SAG service, and a Post Pedal'n Party. *

Saturday events include a Metric/Half Metric Century ride that returns via the longest rail-to-trail bridge in Illinois, an 8-mile Historic Sites ride led by the new Superintendent of Springfield Historic Sites, and a Saturday night Community Cycling Festival that includes Packet Pickup for the ride on Sunday. Additional activity options are under development, and will be listed in our Weekend Guide for participants.

Riders pay a single registration fee for all CCC Weekend rides and activities. Rider registration includes the Post Pedal'n Party on Sunday (food and beer provided). T-shirts and extra "party-only" tickets can be purchased during rider registration at cccweekend.org, or separately by clicking on "REGISTER NOW! and choosing the "Purchase" option.

CCC Weekend funds donations by Springfield Bicycle Club in support of programs and projects that make the Springfield area more bicycle friendly. The Saturday night festival is a celebration of cycling, including the City's 2018 designation as a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community by League of American Bicyclists. SBC members put in countless volunteer hours over the last five years to help achieve this award.

CCC Weekend: Rides & Events Summary

Weekend Guide Activities. A variety of activity options for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are listed in our Weekend Guide (UNDER DEVELOPMENT). Take a Fun Ride with a cue sheet, or take a shuttle downtown for food & drink, music, fine arts and cultural activities!

Friday, Saturday & Sunday--On-Site Check-In & Registration. Check in or register for the event at the Illinois State Fair Campgrounds (Gate 11). Option to add camping at the Fairgrounds or a hotel stay. Choose an activity from our Weekend Guide.

Saturday 10:00 AM--Metric/half metric ride. Ride from the Fairgrounds across the Sangamon River on the longest rails-to-trails bridge in Illinois. Visit Petersburg (metric) or Athens (half metric). Ride leaders, maps, and a water/snack stop for riders in Athens.

Saturday 1:00 PM--Tour of Historic Sites. Take a casual 8-mile neighborhood-style ride from the Fairgrounds that visits Lincoln and other historic sites in Springfield. Ride marshals stay with each group to ensure no one is left behind.

Saturday 5:00-9:00 PM -- Packet Pickup Party and "Loops-A-Palooza" Festival at The Shed. The Springfield Bicycle Club presents a special community bicyclist appreciation festival to celebrate the Bicentennial and Springfield's Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community status (recently designated by the League of American Bicyclists). Enjoy live music by "The Loops", food trucks, libations and other exhibitors and activities (to be announced) at The Shed on the Fairgrounds on Saturday evening.

Sunday 7:00 AM-5:00 PM--46th Annual SBC Classic (Capital City Century). Join us on our classic Century ride! Ride options Include a 20-mile ride and four century options - half metric, metric, 100-mile, and double metric. Food stops, SAG service, marked routes, maps, and info stations. Long distance riders visit our Chatham lunch stop and add mileage loops from there. A 6-mile FREE family ride is also available on Sunday (no registration required).

Sunday Noon-5:00 PM--Post Pedalin’ Party. After completing your ride, enjoy a post-ride meal, libations, live music and more!

NOTE: The 5-day Spoke to Farm Tour (Sept. 10-14) hosted by Bicycle Illinois has been cancelled. CCC Weekend will be held as planned. The CCC is still designated as the official Illinois Bicentennial ride!
