Incentive Awards - May 2021

COVID-19 forced a long hiatus from organized rides and, as a result, the monthly Incentive Awards program was suspended.  We're pleased to announce the following winners for the month of May. Congratulations!

Jordan Litvak’s ride of May 1st,  was voted Ride of the Month.  As the first led ride in over a year, it was widely appreciated and turnout was high.  Congratulations, Jordan!

The Almost Anything Award went to the Sangamon Cycling Series.  Among the winners were those who made the series possible, the ride leaders and SAG volunteers, and, of course, the participants.

Doug Barringer won the Ride Leader Incentive drawing.  Doug will receive a gift certificate to the bike store of his choice.

Capital City Century

Registration for the 2021 CCC is now open and registrations are rolling in! Have you signed up yet?

The Capital City Century (CCC), supported by the Springfield Bicycle Club (SBC), rolls out from Centennial Park on the west side of Springfield, Illinois on Saturday, September 11. Road riders will choose a 40, 63, 100, or 125-mile course. New this year, a 63-mile “Groad” ride combines paved sections from the road rides and gravel roads. This All-American ride showcases Central Illinois’ backroads and small towns during this non-competitive annual cycling event.

One large loop into the countryside is the main feature to this year’s route. Travel through small All-American towns in Sangamon, Cass, Mason, and Menard Counties. Discover restaurants, bars, and coffee shops where you can purchase food or drink and support locally owned establishments hit hard by COVID-19. Rest stops with bottled water and pre-packaged snacks will also be staged along the way. Towns along the longest (125-mile) route include Berlin, Pleasant Plains, Ashland, Chandlerville, Bath, Kilbourne, Oakford, Petersburg, and Athens. Shorter routes also travel through a few of the previously mentioned towns. Once road surfaces are inspected, routes will be verified and released before the event. Updates on coffee shops, bars, and restaurants will be made available soon.
