The Capital City Century, one of the oldest and most popular cycling events in Illinois, has expanded to a whole weekend of fun!
Join us for a weekend of new cycling routes, fun activities and parties that your whole family and friends can enjoy.
Springfield Bicycle Club's 47th annual Capital City Century (CCC), one of the longest running Century recreational bicycle rides in Illinois offering routes of 25, 40, 62,100 and 125 miles will be held on September 8, the Sunday after Labor Day.
The largest bicycle century event in Illinois held outside a major metro area, the CCC draws up to 800 riders annually. While most come from Central Illinois, the CCC has registrations from as far away as Nebraska and Texas.
The CCC starts and ends this year at the new UIS Student Union building, where the Post Pedalin' Party will also be held. It will feature a main food stop in Edinburg Illinois and all new cycling routes, including many roads new to locals!
Registration is ONLY required for the CCC on Sunday. A FREE Historic Ride and Packet Pickup Party will be held the day prior, Saturday, September 7. Riders may pre-register for the CCC or get more information at cccweekend.org or by calling event coordinator Harv Koplo at 217-899-9175.
The CCC funds donations by Springfield Bicycle Club in support of programs and projects that make the Springfield area more bicycle friendly. The League of American Bicyclists designated the City as a Bicycle Friendly Community in 2018, and designated this year's host organization, the University of Illinois at Springfield, as a Bicycle Friendly University in 2017. SBC members and others put in countless volunteer hours and funding over the last six years to help achieve these awards.
