SBC RWGPS Club

Routes are fundamental to cycling. Maybe you've ridden all the bike trails in the area and are ready to branch out a bit, but aren't sure where to ride. And no one wants to get lost! Enter RidewithGPS (RWGPS), a popular navigation app that uses GPS to help you find your way.

The SBC has a RWGPS club that our members may use to download and navigate routes.  You may also create routes in the Route Planning section.  This tutorial will focus on the steps needed to join the club and use your phone to navigate.

STEP 2 - REQUEST TO JOIN THE SBC RWGPS CLUB

Navigate to the Springfield Bicycle Club RWGPS Club page and click on "Request to Join". This will send a notification to the administrator, who will approve your request to join. This normally occurs quickly, but in the event you don't hear back within 24 hours, send an email to Anne Schroll at info@spfldcycling.org

Congratulations, you're now a member of the SBC RWGPS Club!  Now let's use the app for navigating a route!

STEP 3 - SELECT A ROUTE TO NAVIGATE
Tap the route you wish to navigate.

To start navigation click the NAVIGATE button in the lower left of the route preview.

The app may take a moment to lock-on to your position. Once it is locked, your position will show on the map as a blue dot, and you will begin navigation.

OFFLINE MAPS FOR CLUB ROUTES
You can save a route in your library and navigate it without using cell service.

Select a Club route by tapping its name.

Tap the SAVE button on the bottom row of the route preview, then tap Download for Offline.

The amount of time it will take to download the route will depend on the length of the route and the area covered.

You’ll find your downloaded routes by tapping LIBRARY from the app homepage, then tap OFFLINE.

To start navigation on any of your downloaded routes, tap the name of the route to view it and click the NAVIGATE button in the lower left corner.
